The Miami Space Time Project Creates a Scene

 

(Miami, FL) — November 23, 2004- The best kept secret in the construction of Miami Performing Arts Center (MPAC) is about to create an artistic scene, a digital revolution and art in motion. On December 3rd, 2004, during Art Basel Miami Beach, artist Alex Steneck and Miami Space Time Project (MSTP) with the sponsorship of Miami International University of Art and Design and M21 — The Museum of Twenty-First Century Art will host Do You Want to Know What It Is?

 

The Miami premiere solo-exhibition of Alex Steneck, a Miami-based artist and founder of the Miami Space Time Project, is a unique technical art work began three years ago. In 2001, he started digital photographing the construction of Miami Performing Arts Center from 6 different angles, on top of the tallest buildings accumulating over 300,000 digital photographs. Why? To create a Virtual Reality, Time-Lapse art installation of the building of a cultural icon within the Miami community. The project has gained much notoriety with the Miami art scene and has gain critical acclaim for innovation and creativity.

Do you want to see the three years construction of the Performing Arts buildings in two minutes, or two years in twenty minutes? Do you want to see the latest in digital video? This is the magic of time-lapse multi-media and photography. The Miami Space Time Project!

On Friday, December 3, 2004 at 8pm and partying until midnight, Do You Want to Know What It Is? will host a private invitation gallery exhibition for the media, main patrons, political dignitaries and sponsors. Over 100 members of the Miami fine arts community will each place a jigsaw puzzle piece to form an important image from the project. Included on the "Guest List", of which the artwork has been entitled, are the Mayor of Miami, Manny Diaz, County Commission Chairwoman, Dr. Barbara Carey-Shuler, publisher of the Miami Herald, Alberto Ibargüen, and many other important figures from Miami’s cultural community.

A large public exhibition of the Miami Space Time Project will take on NE 15th Street near the intersection with Biscayne Boulevard. This street party with 15th St closed down will feature building-sized video projections, an outdoor concert, fire performers, acrobats, artists and street performers along with food vending provided by the Miami Arts Café and Everything Wine.

All will be invited to view the gallery exhibition at the Miami International University of Art and Design on the corner of NE 15th Street and Biscayne Boulevard.

An 11:11 p.m., a live musical explosion will take place with DJ Bill Kelly, founder of the Winter Music Conference accompanying the building sized video projections, other DJs will spin music and art will create a scene. Other sponsor’s of the event include Impex Systems Group; Julian Chang Coutre; Titan Stone, Tile & Masonry of Florida, who gave MSTP over 2,000 lbs of granite and marble to create artwork. Media sponsors include CBS 4 and UPN 33, The Miami Herald, The Biscayne Boulevard Times, the Double Tree Grand Hotel, Coolight.com, Tribal Ink News and Fashionrocket.biz.

A special media presentation, a sneak preview of the digital multi-media will take place on Tuesday, November 30th at noon. This event will be held at the Double Tree Grand in their newly remodeled Grand Room. Complimentary wine and cheese will be served by Everything Wine and will be a chance to interview the artist and members of Miami International University of Art & Design and M21. A special unveiling of the "Guest List" jigsaw puzzle, created by New Century Signs of Sarasota, FL. utilizing the latest in laser cutting and etching technology, with a hand painted duplicate of a rainbow photograph will be a unique and breath-taking piece.
